Senior Bookkeeper (Consulting)

A well established known management consulting firm based in West Rand in Gauteng is looking for an Accounting Supervisor. a financial professional who manages and oversees all aspects of an organization’s bookkeeping processes. They are responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial records, preparing reports, and analyzing financial data. This role often involves managing a team of bookkeepers, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards. 

 Job Responsibilities:

• Full-function bookkeeping:

  This includes tasks like processing transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and preparing financial statements.
• Financial reporting:

  Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Cash flow management:

  Monitoring and analyzing cash flow, identifying potential issues, and implementing strategies to improve cash flow management.
• Payroll processing:

  Managing employee payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, and taxes, and ensuring timely and accurate payment.
• VAT submissions:

  Preparing and submitting Value Added Tax (VAT) returns.
• Fixed asset management:

  Tracking and managing the organization’s fixed assets, including depreciation calculations.
• Analysis and reporting:

  Analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and providing insights to management.
• Team management:

  Supervising and mentoring junior bookkeepers, and ensuring their work is accurate and timely.
• Compliance:

  Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and other regulatory requirements. 

Minimum Skills/Qualifications required:

• Minimum 5-8 years of experience: in a Senior Bookkeeper role.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software:
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organizational and time management skills. 
• National Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting/finance
• Experience with financial reporting requirements
