We are currently sourcing for a Master Electrical Engineer (HV) for an international automotive OEM company based in Pretoria to Implement and maintain Safety Operating System at PHEV Plant.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identity and track changes in legislation, in particular the OHS Act and Local & company regulations in connection with high DC voltage batteries compliance.
  • Supervise and drive the PHEV Safety Risk assessment process.
  • Plan and execute all applicable PHEV electrical health and safety audits.
  • Advise management of PHEV/DC batteries Legal aspects.
  • Develop/maintain monthly statistical reports and ensure communication to relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaise with PHEV management on electrical battery health and safety issues
  • Creating and implementing a functional and electrical safety strategy and appropriate standards to maintain compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Investigating and reporting on all electrical incidents, accidents, and injuries on site
  • Develop safety and training materials and plan for the assembly plant.
  • Coordinate work, production, and quality processes in the implementation of a new plant(s)
  • Align regulations on Government standards.
  • Lead the decision making related to electrical safety issues.
  • Manage and control electrical check systems at EOL
  • Report internal quality indicators to plant management.
  • Maintenance of industrial equipment for checking and scheduling vehicles
  • Prepare documentation and specification for new equipment and material purchasing.
  • Analyze external quality data for different vehicle models.
  • Implement actions for continuous improvement and reporting monthly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Adaptation of production process of the plant for different vehicle models

 

Desired Experience & Qualification

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering plus Installation Electrician license. (Minimum requirement)
  • Minimum of 3-4 years within the HV
  • Trade test in electrical engineering would be advantageous
  • Experience with high DC voltage batteries

  • Preferably experience with hazardous/ high voltage battery systems.
  • Knowledge of associated electrical risks and Fire protection compliance for battery plants.
  • Knowledge and skills of high voltage safety interventions
  • Able to plan and lead electrical and battery safety interventions.
  • Compile and analyze PHEV plant health and safety statistics.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office suite
  • Possess extensive knowledge on current legislation and application thereof.
  • Sound Knowledge of FAS08 Standards
