Join our client who is a leader in the automotive manufacturing sector based in the Eastern Cape. They are currently looking for Project Engineer (Mechanical) to join their final assembly plant
Job Description and Responsibilities
- Formulating and compiling detailed product specifications in order to ensure proper implementation of facilities, machines, equipment, tools and services.
- Creating facility layouts in Micro Station (HLS), comparing product data, viewing facility designs in Catia V5 and creating process plans as well as costing in Tecnomatix Process Designer & Process Simulate.
- Managing the approval of funds for purchasing the required facilities, machines, equipment, tools or services by compiling, issuing and monitoring the Finance process.
- Compiling detailed investment plans and directing funds for the purchasing of required facilities, machines, equipment, tools, services and installations.
- Control and direct Buy-Off of new facilities by supervising try-outs, commissioning and measuring (dimensional) of these new facilities in order to ensure production process is ergonomic and capable of producing the required quality and consistency to the company Standard.
- Conducting trials during VFF, PVS and O-Series and implementing corrective actions in order to ensure production readiness for start of production and series build.
- Organizing training of Production and Maintenance personnel during VFF, PVS, O-Series build and series production on the correct use of the equipment and facilities.
- Coordinating, monitoring and providing advice during design reviews and ensure that all respective parties’ inputs are taken into consideration.
- Formulating, supervising and controlling Project Timing plans with the aid of MS Project and other project management skills.
Education and Experience required
- National Diploma in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
- Minimum 3-5 years relevant Project Planning experience within the Automotive Industry (Assembly preferred)
- Skills, Attributes & Other requirements
- In-depth knowledge of production processes, layouts and facilities
- Knowledge of jigs, fixtures, gauges, press tools and vehicle build processes
- Excellent insight in total automotive Engineering, planning, manufacturing systems and pre-calculated costing practices
- Knowledge of Vehicle Assembly and Complete Vehicle build processes
- Have strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
- Must have good analytical skills with an innovative approach to problem-solving
- Must be assertive and have facilitation skills
- Must have ability to negotiate and communicate at all levels
- Be extremely motivated, flexible and able to perform in stressful environments
- Must be willing to travel internationally at short notice
