A well known international automotive manufacturing company is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to be based in Kariega Eastern Cape to join their Production Planning Department.
Brief Role Description
The successful candidate will be expected to ensure that all new/upgraded facilities required for production are:
- Introduced on time.
- To budget
- Compliant (statutorily (OHS Act & SANS) and to Group standards)
- And capable of producing to the required quality (outlined in product specification) and volume (outlined in the project premises)
Possible Tasks within this Role
- Preparing production facility investment studies and production concepts including timing, layouts, capacity concepts and different options for possible new products in Paint and Component Plants.
- Developing specifications that ensure requirements are met for: new production facilities, new systems, new equipment & life cycle upgrades.
- Setting up project management plans to ensure that all new/upgraded facilities required for production are introduced: on time, to budget, compliantly (statutorily: OHS Act & SANS), to Group Standards, being capable of producing to the required quality and volume & to the satisfaction of stakeholders.
- Technical evaluation of tenders.
- Project implementation: site establishment, construction/installation, change point management, co-ordination of stakeholders, commissioning & keeping to timing schedule
- Managing project budgets by tracking actual expenditure versus budget, progress payments and final payment.
- Ensuring that the supplier provides updated layouts to required Group Standard with all projects.
- Ensuring that the supplier provides documentation for facility i.e. operating manuals, maintenance manuals, component drawings, electrical drawings etc.
- Buy-off of new equipment with Final Acceptance Schedule (end of commissioning)
Qualification requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronic, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Experience needed
- 3 years of proven facility planning experience (e.g writing specifications; procurement & commissioning in a complex industrial environment)
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in Automation /Electronics
- 3 – 5 years ‘ experience in Project Management (e.g. Budgets, time, resource management)
Essestials:
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Organization, coordination and planning as well as resourcefulness skills.
- Logical, analytical and advanced technical insight and aptitude
- Ability to deal with complexity.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and simply and concisely explain and sell complex technical processes.
- Proven knowledge and experience in Industrial automation, networks and IT.
- People skills and stakeholder management
- Creative problem solving
- Highly computer literate
