A well known food manufacturing company based in Durban is looking for a dynamic Millwright Technician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and implement planned and unplanned maintenance relating to utilities; water, air and electricity in all Plants
  • Collection and analysis of utilities data to drive improvements and cost reduction
  • Ensure service level agreements are maintained at the required standards
  • Ensure contractors brought to site comply with relevant SHE requirements
  • Carry out preventative and planned maintenance effectively
  • Carry out projects to completion and hand over
  • Participate in the asset care strategy
  • Ensure engineering standards are correctly applied, as per regulations
  • Assist plants with problem solving of engineering/operational problems relating to utilities and ensure that appropriate corrective action is taken
  • Assist in the reduction of breakdowns in the plants by analyzing breakdowns relating to utilities and implementing continuous improvement
  • Assist services teams with startup and shutdown of equipment, including sharing of standby and callout roster
  • Ensuring a safe working environment by adhering to safety procedures.
  • Report all unsafe conditions to Safety rep or supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping in their areas of work and responsibility

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Qualified (Trade Tested) Artisan:  Electrician or Millwright (Wireman’s License advantageous)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a building services environment
  • Mechanical aptitude and a strong understanding services equipment; Transformers, Switchgear, Compressors, Chillers, Pumps and Solar.
  • Computer literate
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at various levels of the organisation
  • Ability to assess and prioritize work effectively.
  • Highly self-motivated, energetic, composed and ability to motivate others
  • Proficiency in English, read, write and understand clearly
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Strong safety awareness and focus
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willing to do standby and work overtime during the month as required.
