An international automotive OEM company based in Kariega, Eastern Cape is looking for suitably qualified & experienced individual to fill the Occupational Health Practitioner (OMP) position in the Human Resources Department – Kariega
Brief Role Description
- To ensure by means of an economical occupational Health and Safety function and according to the needs (of both the Company and Employees), that a healthy working environment is maintained and that the immediate needs related to these by our employees are met, by rendering clinical health services, primary health care, injury on duty, HIC and TB
Possible Tasks within this Role
- Assess and determine all non-minor Injuries on Duty, apply the necessary treatment and document the information according to COID Act.
- Assess and determine all injuries on duty, initiate treatment and document the information for COID Act purposes.
- Assess and determine all medical emergencies which arise in the Plant, initiate emergency treatment and co-ordinate further treatment.
- Determine, assess, analyse and apply treatment of all occupational related diseases and problems to include preventative aspects ie. Pre-placement medicals, medical transfers, apprentice statutory medicals, routine examinations ie. Audiometry, driver medicals, lead handlers, spray painters, radiation workers, food handlers, quality assurance inspectors.
- Assess, advise and approve all pre-placement medical examinations.
- Consultation with regards to sick absenteeism with employees, line management and union – and advise management.
- Conduct clinical assessment for Health Check Programme
- Participate in HIV and TB Programme including assessment and diagnosis
Qualification requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine Degree (M.B) OR Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Ch. B)
- Registration with Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
Experience needed
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as general practitioner.
