We are currently recruiting for an international automotive OEM based in Pretoria to fill the Plant Financial Controller / Costing Manager. This role is to ensure that the Operational and Program Launch expenditure of the plant Operations is realistically budgeted based on key physical assumptions and input from the Operating team. Manage and control actual expenditure against the budget targets to ensure the optimal use of available funds in support of overall operating and profit objectives.
Support and guide the Operating team in delivering their cost targets through ongoing collaboration with the team, by interpreting and explaining key physical drivers of the absolute cost, sharing cost containment ideas and opportunities, and imparting financial acumen to help drive a continuous cost improvement mindset. Execute the above while maintaining a robust control environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop an annual 5-year Business Plan in line with the Cycle Plan and volume projections and other key assumptions
- Develop an annual Operational Budget for Labour & Overheads and Launch based on key physicals published and in close co-operation with operational areas for all expenditure and cost elements associated with these areas
- Regularly update the budget to the latest forecast level based on the most recent physical assumptions issued
- Control all overheads and Launch cost elements within acceptable parameters and in line with Production System guidelines
- Manage the month-end close process for overheads, interpret and explain key physical drivers of absolute costs and variances, and identify improvements
- Participate in management decisions related to cost drivers and build consensus to execute recommendations
- Develop overheads cost per unit data for all Product Program gateway requests, including variance analysis versus prior submissions
Accountabilities:
- Support and advise Operational team with regards to financial KPI’s
- Support the Labour Planning Process to ensure accurate and efficient Manning levels and Labour cost
- Provide guidance and direction to the Plant Control team on the tracking of costs against budget and forecast, and the analysis of variance explanations on a daily/weekly and monthly basis to be included in the cost reports they prepare for Operating management
Communication and Working Relationships:
- Partner with the Operating team and be their business advisor, providing on-going business counsel and guidance on all cost containment actions and cost reduction opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS
- University degree in Finance or Business or Accounting
- 5+ years of experience in Finance, preferably Manufacturing Finance
- Automotive experience would be beneficial
- Good knowledge of costing and cost analysis
- In-depth understanding of financial analysis and ablility to apply it in practice
