Introduction

 

Our client has a vacancy for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer/Technologist The role is responsible for providing support in all areas of Civil Engineering, managing construction projects, will be responsible for all aspects of conceptual and detailed design of major civil engineering projects, including treatment plants, pump stations, reservoirs, and pipelines; as well as project management; and coordination of team members. Dealing with multiple stakeholders, delivering to deadlines, and solving complex problems. The position will report directly to the manager.

  1. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

 The role is responsible for providing support in all areas of Civil Engineering, managing construction projects, will be responsible for on all aspects of conceptual and detailed design of major civil engineering projects, including water reticulation, stormwater, township development, and sewer pipelines networks; as well as project management; and coordination of team members. Dealing with multiple stakeholders, delivering to deadlines and solving complex problems. Manage client opportunities through careful forecasting, planning and implementation of project plans.

  1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Experience within the civil industry with a focus on the design of water and sewer network and platform designs.
    • Responsible for supporting the management and Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery of robustly defined technical solutions.
    • Undertake initial feasibility and scoping, through detailed design, to support for procurement, construction, commissioning and final handover of projects within the required timescales and within agreed design budgets.
    • Undertake production of technical reports, calculations, development of design and construction drawings and specifications in compliance with relevant industry standards and to ensure all solutions are safe to build, operate and maintain.
    • Mentoring of young engineers and technicians
    • Compile fully populated project schedule (e.g., resources, task, dates, etc.).
    • Conduct comprehensive construction stage monitoring, admin, and financial functions.
    • Set-up project budget baseline (revenue, cost of sales and gross profit margin).
    • Compile monthly forecast of projects.
    • Optimise of project costs.
    • Optimise project filling frequency.
    • Ensure a proper control and maintenance of project documents and records.
    • Ensure that all QA procedures and guidelines are followed.
    • Construction stage quality monitoring and administrative functions.

Desired Experience & Qualification

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • B Eng. /BTech Eng in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience in AutoCAD / Civil 3D, Civil Designer/ WaterMAte or similar design packages
  • Professional Registration with ECSA as PR Eng/Pr Tech Eng 2 years minimum post registration experience
  • Experience within the civil industry with a focus on the design of water and sewer network and Platform designs.
