Job summary statement/purpose
- To perform underwriting administration tasks and assist in the implementation of underwriting rules and regulations.
- Reviewing terms and conditions of products on an ongoing basis.
- Handle queries and provide technical assistance to our brokers and Agents Support the underwriting department in conducting market research.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of an IISA qualification (or studying towards)
- RE 5
- Tertiary qualification advantageous
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role in a short-term insurance company
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
- Underwriting Function
- Reviewing terms and conditions of products on an ongoing basis
- Reviewing rates annually
- Assist with documentation related to the underwriting plan
- Collating research on new products
- Updating of wordings and regulations
- Updating Excess of Loss information/ details
- Assist with the preparation of monthly underwriting reports for the Executive Manager
- Handle queries and provide technical assistance to our brokers and Agents Support the underwriting department in conducting market research.
- Review our regulations and policy wordings to ensure they remain relevant and up to date
- Re-insurance function
- Assist in the preparation of treaty renewals
- Assist with preparing treaty renewal data
- Assist with the gathering of data as requested by the Actuarial department
- Training
- Support Underwriting specialist in providing education through various platforms on products to clients/agents, ensuring basic understanding of company’s role in the market.
- Updating of training materials
- Updating and maintaining the underwriting library
- Perform ad hoc tasks
