An international automotive manufacturing company is looking for a Vehicle Engineering Evaluation Engineer to be based in Pretoria
Duties & Responsibilities
ROLE SUMMARY
- Support Production Plant by ensuring vehicles leave the Plant without any Noise, Vibration Harshness /Squeek & Rattle, WAHA, Ride and handling issues
- Responsible for recommending component design revisions, and support reworks and interim components.
- Liaise with Suppliers and regional Vehicle Functional Group on constant basis to keep up to date with design and manufacturing best practice.
- Serve as core member of the VE VRT (Variability Reduction Team), supporting Production, drive Quality and Customer Satisfaction through the Quality Operating System.
KEY DUTIES
- VFG Engineer for the Vehicle Engineering section.
- Liaise with IMG & EU VFG Engineers to resolve VE-related issues.
- Core VRT member, supporting Production, driving Quality and Customer Satisfaction through the Quality Operating System:
- Lead Reviewing and binning of ECB Warranty claims (on a daily basis).
- Support Problem Solving process.
- Rapid implementation of ICA’s & PCA’s & establish Root Cause/s of related Customer issues.
- Responsible for the maintenance of BSAQ projects.
- Develop a resolution plan for improvement by analysing external and internal Quality metrics.
- Liaise with VE VRT teams (from other regions) to support & drive Quality solutions on issues experienced In-Plant and externally on Warranty.
- Provide feedback/Report out on issues seen at Quality Review meetings, VRT Meetings as required, to improve Manufacturing Quality and Processes.
- Develop and implement solutions to VE related problems for vehicles after Launch Phase, through design and manufacturing improvements (External Warranty & Internal Data driven).
- Establish Root Cause and Resolutions of specific customer complaints by assisting CSO/FCSD and Dealers through CMT/QSF processes.
- Liaise with, and support relevant IMG Engineering functions.
- Assist New Vehicle Launches as part of the VE Team.
- Identify, diagnose, and rapidly resolve VE customer and AIMS issues.
- SPOC for J73 VE related issues (NVH, S&R, Good fuel economy, WAHA, CV, Ride and Handling)
- Ensure best practice is followed for identification, diagnosis and resolution of all vehicle line issues during launch and mass production
- Ensure Corporate Health-chart is applied to all current Future Programs and update status.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor’s (BSC) Degree / B-Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics with relevant general technical experience.
- Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt certified would be advantageous
- Minimum 3 year motor vehicle experience in either the Product Development or Manufacturing environments.
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel).
