A well known international events management company based in Johannesburg is looking for a Financial Operations Lead to lead a team of 8 financial operations staff.

Role Summary
  • This is a key member of the finance team where you will manage the financial operations related to event reconciliation, cashless and ticketing settlements, and treasury processes.
  • You will ensure timely, accurate, and efficient financial execution while contributing to the commercial decision-making of the business by scrutinising cost recovery, quoting, and reporting processes.
  • You will also serve as a cross-functional communicator, working closely with Finance, Customer Success, and the Executive team to deliver insights and resolve financial escalations.
Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-End Reconciliation: Own and manage the full reconciliation lifecycle for event-related payment flows, including ticketing and cashless systems.
  • Event Settlement: Oversee and validate the settlement process with event Confirm fund flows, reconcile commissions & fees, and payouts to ensure accurate disbursements and realising of company revenue.
  • Treasury and Banking: Lead daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation processes between the Howler platform, bank accounts, and third-party payment gateways.
  • Cash Management: Supervise event cash management, including onsite recons and being the point-of-contact for cash teams over weekends. Provide training and troubleshoot issues in real time.
  • Systems and Controls: Collaborate with internal product and engineering teams to automate reconciliation and reporting Improve existing systems and contribute to the rebuild of the treasury framework.
  • Audit and SOP Compliance: Maintain and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for reconciliation, audit trails, settlement protocols, and reporting.
  • Cross-functional Communication: Serve as a financial liaison in event escalations. Report back to Customer Success and Executive teams for any event related
  • Commercial Contribution: Provide input into the commercials of the events by:
  • Reviewing quoting structures to ensure cost
  • Monitoring and improving margin performance on
  • Supporting pricing decisions with financial data and insights.
Minimum Skills & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. CIMA/SAIPA/SAICA articles advantageous.
  • 3–5 years of experience in financial operations or financial analysis roles, preferably in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
  • Experience in the events, fintech, SaaS, or payment processing industries is a
  • High proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, with experience in building automated reconciliation processes.
  • Comfortable using or adapting to financial systems, CRMs, or ERP platforms
  • Proven experience in building, implementing, or improving financial systems, whether through automation, system integrations, or process
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to scrutinise financial data, identify inefficiencies, and suggest cost-saving measures.
  • Ability to interpret data to inform pricing, quoting, and margin
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with executive leadership, finance team members, and client-facing teams.
