A well known car manufacturer based in Kariega (Uitenhage) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced employee to fill the Electrician vacancy within the Engine Plant. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance, repair, and fault‑finding of electrical, electronic, and automated equipment, to support equipment reliability, ensure production continuity, and maintain safe operating standards within the Engine Plant. This position is based in Engine Plant – Production – Kariega

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process supplier documents accurately and on time.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of suppliers’ documents in line with orders, contracts, Delivery Notes, and Legal Agreements.
  • Classify transactions correctly according to SARB BOP codes.
  • Handle supplier and Business Area queries promptly and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain spreadsheets and records for Cash & Banking relating to SARB reporting.
  • Prepare payment proposals and ensure adherence to SARB documentation and EXCON requirements.
  • Maintain supplier master data and banking details.
  • Cost shipments timeously and clear General Ledger Clearing and Goods‑In‑Transit accounts.
  • Verify accuracy of customs clearance documents and arrange corrections where necessary.
  • Perform Month‑End FACT reporting.
  • Support cash management by forecasting local payments.

Minimum  Qualifications & Work experience:

  • Qualified Electrician
  • A minimum 3 years’ experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Proven experience in fault‑finding and repairs within safety parameters
  • Sound working knowledge of Siemens S5 / S7 PLC programming and diagnostics

Added Advantage

  • Experience with Engine Plant equipment, including Block Line machines, CNC lathes, assembly conveyors, and lifting equipment
  • Experience with Jendamark, Bosch, or DGD tightening systems
  • Computer hardware repairs and upgrading knowledge

PRODUCT TECHNICIAN 
We are seeking a technically skilled‑Product Technician (Assembly) to provide hands-on technical support to Production through the diagnosis and resolution of vehicle electrical and process-related concerns. ‑The role supports stable production, improved Direct Run Rate (DRR), reduced defects and continuous improvement of product quality, with a special focus on vehicle electrical fitment and commissioning activities within Final Assembly. This position is based in Assembly – Production (Kariega)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide immediate hands-on production support for electrical faults and stoppages.
  • Diagnose and assist in rectifying harness issues, control unit faults and incorrect fitment/connection issues.
  • Contain and recover defects quickly to minimise downtime, rework and quality impact.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring electrical defects and drive problem sheets/A3s.
  • Implement and verify corrective actions to reduce repeat failures and improve DRR.
  • Identify and improve assembly process weaknesses relating to vehicle electrics.
  • Propose improvements to work sequences, part handling, fitment methods and error-proofing.
  • Monitor CP6, End-of-Line and audit findings to reduce electrical flow-out.
  • Coach and train production personnel on correct electrical fitment, fault identification and prevention.
  • Support new models, model year changes and engineering changes from a buildability perspective.
  • Coordinate action plans with Production, Planning, Quality and other relevant departments
Minimum Qualifications & Work Experience
  • National Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering (excluding heavy current) or Mechatronics; and/or
  • Trade Certificate: Auto Electrician / Electrician / Millwright
  • 3 –5 years relevant experience in automotive assembly production with proven vehicle electrical systems and fault-finding.
  • Three years’ experience in vehicle manufacturing or a related field, with key focus on vehicle electronics.
  • Proven ability to diagnose electrical faults on vehicles, including harnesses, control units, sensors and actuators
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and measurement equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings such as electrical drawings.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies:
  • Advanced practical fault-finding and vehicle diagnostics capability.
  • Knowledge of CAN/LIN bus systems, ECUs, electrical fitment, harness routing and common failure modes.
  • Strong root cause analysis, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to coach and train operators/artisans and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with a basic understanding of CAD viewer.
  • Ability to work under production pressure and make sound decisions.
