PROCESSING SPECIALIST

A well known packaging manufactuirng company based in JHB East is seeking for a Processing Specialist reporting to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously improve mould efficiencies by reducing setup and cycle times.
  • Process and optimise material handling and processing techniques.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Department on the mould maintenance programme.
  • Collaborate with Shift Teams and Team Leaders to ensure optimal production performance.
  • Ensure machinery and moulds are effectively maintained, serviced and stored.
  • Conduct mould and material trials as required.
  • Ensure the production of high-quality products in line with company standards.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety.
  • Manage injection moulds to maximise efficiency and longevity.
  • Support Research and Development initiatives.
  • Assist with the maintenance of injection moulding machinery and moulds.
  • Attend to machine breakdowns and call-outs when required.
  • Training and development of setters

Minimum Requirements and Competencies

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) and at least a National Diploma in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering qualification is essential
  • Mechanical background is essential.
  • Extensive experience in advanced plastic processing within an injection moulding environment.
  • Proven experience in maintenance management.
  • Experience in Polymer Technology, including extruders and injection moulds.
  • Injection moulding machine setting experience is essential.
  • Willingness to work shifts when operationally required.
  • Sound knowledge of ISO procedures.
  • Methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Positive attitude with high levels of enthusiasm and self-motivation.
  • Strong logical and analytical thinking ability.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all organisational levels.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Passion for delivering operational excellence and exceptional service.
