Our client is a one of the globally recognised energy solutions provider for over 100 years of electro-mechanical equipment in Africa. They are looking for a dynamic Proposals Engineer

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Proposal Engineer will have the responsibility of coordinating all phases of the divisions’ tendering process in response to customers’ Request for Information/Request for Proposals/Request for Quotations/Invitation to Tender (RFI/RFPs/RFQs/ITT). The ability to meet deadlines, a commitment to teamwork, and detailed follow-through will be the key to success in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical).
  • Sales & Marketing Qualification will be advantageous.
  • At least 5-10 years in sales and marketing management environment, preferably in a medium to large enterprise involved in distribution of products via. Various channels (Routes to Market).
  • Knowledge of Electricity Supply Industry (Generation, Transmission & Distribution).
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Office Suite
  • Experience in various conditions of contracts i.e. NEC/JBCC/GCC and FIDIC Conditions.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Review of technical proposal’s requirements as per the Invitation to Bid Documents and related contract specifications, drawings, etc. and discuss requirements with the Proposals Manager.
  • Lead technical proposal discussions during proposal kick off and scope-review meetings with clients/partners and ensure agreements on responsibilities and contractual obligations.
  • Understand the products and services offering and approach of key competitors; communicate products and services differentiation to sales and provides input to management
  • Responsible for the co-ordination and review proposal input from other Departments, such as: Sales, Operations, Finance, Legal, Procurement, Engineering & Marketing
  • Ensure that Clients pricing and technical tender schedules are complete and accurately.
  • Attending tender briefing meetings & site visits
  • Searching for new clients who could benefit from Company products/services in all sectors such as Mining, Energy, Petrochemical, Railways, Utilities and Industrial
  • Searching for new leads on the customers tender database
  • Managing and maintaining the tender schedule
  • Tracking of submitted tenders in line with the tender schedule
  • Keep abreast existing and new product developments in the market
  • Assist Proposals Manager in the identification, evaluation and ranking of risks as well as developing a strategy to manage and mitigate the risks to the Company.
  • Adhoc reasonable duties as and when requested by the designated Line Manager
  • Responsible for adhering to the requirements of abovementioned systems as directed by the SHEQ Management System (which includes relevant legislation, Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions, specifications, etc.)
  • Ensure that Quality Assurance is confirmed to in every aspect, especially in the area of documentation control.
  • Ensures compliance with all standards for Safety, Environmental, Work Procedures and Quality
  • Assurance and Quality Control systems as adopted by the High Voltage Division.
