Brief description of the position
The Quality Engineer (Product Safety Representative) will ensure that the Group Africa adhere to the legal obligation to ensure product safety to avoid risks where possible, of loss/damages to person or property that arise from use of vehicle Product.
Possible Tasks within this Role
- Assisting in new projects with the establishment of Product Safety. The target is complete implementation of actions/corrective actions to vehicle safety requirements for the prevention of repeat failures with the use of the Product Safety catalogue (lessons learnt).
- Inspecting pre-series units in conjunction with other Q-type responsible PSB’s to expedite safety relevant problem recognition and corrective action implementation.
- Undertaking regular vehicle and line checks to evaluate current production (parts, part assemblies and sub-assemblies), and obtain corrective actions for any potential safety relevant problems detected.
- Representing the interest of the Quality Assurance Department during technical discussions with Service and the Product Safety Committee.
- Ensuring/Initiating and/or assisting in the establishment of corrective action to resolve the problem, tracking monitoring of the implementation of agreed actions and verification of the effectiveness within the Production / Field with the Service Department.
Qualification requirements
National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Experience needed
3-5 years’ relevant experience in the automotive industry within Production/ Product Engineering / Quality environment.
Essentials
- Knowledge of the vehicle functions (Body, powertrain, chassis, electrical)
- Ability to process and analyse complex data
- Strong computer skills (Ms Office incl. HyperKVS, AVON, AQUA, ELSAWin, FIS)
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate and present at all levels within the organisation
- Be a self-starter and be able to work independently.
- Be able to make informed decisions in appointing accountability on behalf of the Group
