Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the Quality Engineer position in the QA Vehicle Manufacturing Department – Quality Assurance (Kariega)

Brief Role Description

As part of the QAVM engineering team the successful candidate will take up the role of a quality engineer to ensure that problem analysis is done to the required Group guidelines and meets the customer’s expectations. The QA Engineer has to clearly define and coordinate corrective actions

Key responsibilities

  • To plan, define, co-ordinate and be accountable for Quality audits and inspections in Press, Body, Paint and Assembly shops.
  • To maintain and improve product surface quality and mechanical joints by monitoring and reporting on non–conformances and processes.
  • Drive product improvements based on top faults detected by investigating route causes and initiating corrective actions to meet Konzern Quality standards and provide continuous improvements.
  • Ensure that the top defects identified during the audit and sign-off processes are known to the causing area by providing feedback to the sectional areas on the detected problems to create awareness at the operational levels.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of corrective actions by perform process monitoring and verification of the implemented actions (as per above) to verify the closure of problem topics and escalate failures after breakpoints to the relevant area.

Qualification requirements and Experience needed

  • Have a minimum National Diploma in one of the following engineering sciences (ND Mechanical. Electrical, Mechatronics, Metallurgy
  • Have 3 -5 years’ experience within the manufacturing industry
  • Experience in interpreting measuring reports and technical drawings
  • Have good report writing and presentation skills.
  • Have proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Vehicle Manufacturing processes
  • Sound problem-solving skills and Quality Tools e.g., Fishbone, FMEA, SPC & DOE
  • Proficiency in database software packages (MS SQL, Oracle etc.)
  • Be assertive and have the ability to motivate.
  • Be a team player and be able to work under pressure.
  • In-depth knowledge of bolting equipment and applications inclusive of monitoring systems and controls.

Added Advantage

  • BSc Degree / B-Tech Mechanical / Metallurgy or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Analytically minded with the ability and inclination to work accurately with databases.
  • System based data extraction, interpretation and analysis.
  • A knowledge of German language
  • Experience in engineering packages (CATIA, CAD)
