Earthmoving Equipment Diesel Mechanic

A well known manufacturing company of building & construction products is looking for a Earthmoving Equipment Diesel Mechanic to be based in Kempton Park

You will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of heavy machinery like loaders, excavators, bulldozers, and graders. Key duties include performing routine inspections, troubleshooting complex engine and hydraulic issues, supervising junior mechanics, managing parts and service records, and ensuring all work meets safety standards. Requirements often include a formal qualification, such as a Red Seal Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic trade certificate, several years of experience

Key responsibilities

Maintenance and repair: Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs on yellow equipment, including engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Must have worked on equipment such as Bell3 Wheeler & Deutz forklifts, Volvo ADT, CAT Excavators, Front end loaders (Komatsu FEL, Bell FEL,) Holland Tractors, Case Tractors
Diagnostics and troubleshooting: Identify and fix mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools.
Supervision: Lead and mentor Diesel mechanics, assign tasks, and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
Record keeping: Document all work performed, including parts used and service records, to maintain accurate fleet maintenance tracking.
Safety and compliance: Ensure all work adheres to safety regulations and company procedures, and conduct risk assessments.
Breakdown response: Respond to and resolve breakdowns, which may involve traveling to remote sites.

Required qualifications and experience

A trade test certificate is a minimum requirement, such as a Red Seal Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
A minimum of 3 to 8 years of experience on yellow heavy earthmoving equipment is a must
Experience iin ADT, Forklifts, Tractors, Excavator, Front-End Loaders, Grader is a must
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics and components
