SHEQ & Food Safety Administrator

Our client who manufactures food related products packaging is looking for a SHEQ and Food Safety Administrator to support the effective implementation and maintenance of the Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality and Food Safety management systems within our food packaging manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, promotes a strong safety culture, and helps drive continuous improvement initiatives related to food safety, workplace safety, and quality assurance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain SHEQ and Food Safety documentation, records, and databases (including audit findings, corrective actions, incident reports, training records, risk assessments, appointment letters, trackers, etc).
  • Assist with preparation of reports, presentations, and KPIs for SHEQ and Food Safety performance tracking.
  • Schedule SHEQ and Food Safety meetings, audits, inspections, and training sessions.
  • Managing and issuing of PPE, including stock takes

Compliance & Auditing:

  • Support the execution of internal audits and external certification audits (e.g., FSSC 22000, Health and Safety Audits, etc).
  • Conduct internal audits for Health and Safety as well as Food Safety.
  • Monitor compliance with legal and company SHEQ and Food Safety standards, particularly related to food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., HACCP, PRP’s, GMP).
  • Assist with incident investigations and follow-up on corrective/preventive actions.

Training & Communication:

  • Track and maintain training records for all SHEQ and Food Safety related appointments and help coordinate SHEQ and Food Safety training programs for employees.
  • Promote SHEQ and Food Safety awareness across the site through communication materials, toolbox talks, and bulletin boards.
  • Support the onboarding process with SHEQ and Food Safety inductions for new employees and contractors.

Risk Management:

  • Update risk assessments and safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Support the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), particularly those related to hygiene, handling of materials, and use of machinery.

Environmental & Waste Management:

  • Monitor environmental data such as waste segregation, recycling, and emissions.
  • Assist with environmental reporting and initiatives aimed at reducing the site’s environmental footprint.

SHEQ and Food Safety Culture

  • Assist with initiatives of awareness for the SHEQ and Food Safety systems (World Health and Safety Day, World Food Safety Day, etc.)

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma in Safety Management or Equivalent or Btech in SHE or a technical field (engineering)1- 2-year relevant experience in FMCG SHERQ working environment
  • Must have Working Knowledge of OHS Act and Compensation for Occupational Injury and Disease Act, Environmental Legislation and other relevant legislation.
