Senior Software Developer (API’s/NET stack) Featured

Our client in the Technology Services sector based in Midrand is looking for a Senior SQL Developer and Senior Software Developer to develop and maintain our in-house Automated Meter Reading (AMR) platforms and related energy management products.  This role involves full-cycle software development, from design and implementation to testing and support.

KEY DUTIES for SQL Developer

• Design, test, implement and maintain the integrated spatial database to ensure 24/7 database availability and operation.
• Establish and maintain database replication.
• Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, functions, CTEs, security configurations, index optimization, query performance tuning, database normalization and design, RBAC, encryption, partitioning and sharding, and data auditing.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to ensure a successful, high-quality product and great user experience.
• Analyse, maintain and enhance existing application and troubleshoot issues with efficiency.
• Perform accurate development estimation.
• Produce technical specifications and designs. Participate in new business development through ideation, prototype development, and project estimates.
• Research new techniques, tools, and best practices and share that knowledge with the team and community.
• Maintain high data integrity and security standards.
• Can help with quality assurance and provide comments.

KEY DUTIES for Senior Software Developer

• Analyse system requirements and design robust software solutions.
• Develop new software systems and sub-systems.
• Maintain and enhance existing software products.
• Create and maintain technical documentation (release notes, test specs, user manuals).
• Conduct unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Provide second-line technical support for software-related issues.
• Assist in user training and develop training materials.

EDUCATIONAL & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

• Matric / Grade 12
• Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Electronic or Electrical Engineering
• Knowledge of energy management systems or IoT technologies
• Experience with user experience (UX)-centric design and development
• Exposure to analytics, data science, or AI/ML technologies
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS)
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

Advantageous Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Honours Degree in Software related qualification
• Software Language/Database Specific Qualification

Experience required for SQL DBA

• 3+ year DBA experience
• 3+ year Database Development experience
• Project experience:  2 years
• Other experience:  3 years in a software/mobile/database development or a combination
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
• Knowledge of OO design principles and development patterns
• Exposure in ASPNET, ASP.NET Core, WebAPI, SQL, PostgreSQL, PostGIS extension and XAML is advantageous
• Excellent understanding and application of design principles

Experience required for Senior Developer

• Function related experience: Min 5 year of experience in software development within a scientific, industrial or technical environment.
• Leading teams: 2-5 years
• Project experience: 5 years
• Strong proficiency in:
• Web services and APIs
• Microsoft SQL Server technologies (including SSRS)
• .NET stack and C# (C/C++ experience is a plus)
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven track record in product design and delivery.
