Temporary Warehouse Supervisor

Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the Temporary Warehouse Supervisor position in the Group Parts Distribution Centre –  For 18 months

Brief Role Description

  • To supervise all Group Parts Warehouse Operations activities by planning/ controlling/ analysing/ coordinating and implementing outbound logistics processes.  Developing and optimizing outbound logistics and manpower resources, in order to meet the outbound KPI’s ensuring Dealer service levels and satisfaction.

Possible Tasks within this Role

  • Responsible for adequate supply of all necessary material and equipment as well as to make sure that all equipment and machinery are regularly checked so as to minimise disruptions to production.
  • Monitor trends in sensitive, small bin, and rack area deficiencies, determine possible causes, develop, and introduce corrective action to reduce damages and incorrect supply.
  • Plan and monitor warehouse operations process of parts and accessories to ensure that the daily cut off times and targets are met.
  • Develop staff by the setting of work-related objectives, appraising performance and behaviour and where necessary, initiating / providing specialist training so as to maximize the potential of individuals within the section to maintain high levels of productivity and motivation.
  • Arrange for and provide ongoing training for staff to ensure optimum utilization of manpower resources.
  • Consult and monitor security systems within the warehouse to guarantee security of materials.
  • Ensure that work areas are cleared and free of any debris and obstacles that would hinder carrying out work processes. This would be done by creating an awareness amongst all subordinates of all relevant Health and safety standards and ensuring strict adherence by them. A proper housekeeping procedure must be instilled and adhered to.
  • Assist in the generation of, Procedures and Work instructions through liaison with other interfacing departments and providing the necessary training.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental standards, and procedures by members of staff.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a climate conducive to industrial stability and peace.
  • Participate in departmental budget meetings.
  • Active participation in ensuring continuous improvement and strict adherence to company code of conduct by initiating performance management, counselling, and motivation of staff.
  • Plan, introduce and monitor warehouse operations layouts to ensure most efficient flow of materials in conjunction with the Centurion industrial Engineer.

 

Qualification requirements

  • A recognised 3-year National diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years Warehouse supervisory experience
  • 1 year SAP operational experience
  • Inventory management experience.
  • Warehouse Planning experience.

Essentials

  • Inventory management, materials handling, related planning principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and standards.
  • High standard of People Management and Leadership skills
  • Excellent planning and organising skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills across all levels
  • Ability to operate effectively under continuous pressure
  • Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to defuse conflict situations effectively.
  • Ability to effectively handle several parallel activities of varying complexity.
